This list's purpose is to help you have enough room at any point in time by showing you the NPC requirements so you can plan ahead, and informing you of the biome that NPC prefers if they are to sell extra stuff - only a few do. Most can move in pre-Hardmode but others will require you to defeat the Wall of Flesh and enable Hard Mode while filling other requirements before they can reside in your town. Some of them can be found while exploring the game's various areas underground, while others will move in once certain requirements are met. Making room for extra is always wise, given there are a total of 21 (18 on console/mobile) who can move in during any time of year, so long as you provide them with valid housing. Any who act as a vendor can also buy your items (it doesn't matter who you sell what to, the price is the same). NPCs (Non-Player Characters) tend to be friendly, helpful residents of your town who sell materials and devices that can be super-helpful to you. I am not proud of its aesthetics, but it shows all but a few of the NPCs who can move into the world. ![]() Now that you've done that, you can check out our guides on where to find every Whip and how to summon and defeat the Empress of Light.Terraria: NPCs List of Requirements & Who Can Move in My first base, which is focused on functionality and ease of building. There are at least 25 NPCs to find and each has their preferred Biome to live in, neighbours and requirements for unlocking. Your Bestiary will give you details of who likes what and why, which makes placing NPCs a little easier. Terraria - How to unlock NPCs and make them happy Another upshot of having happy NPCs is that you'll be able to place Pylons in the Biomes that will allow you to fast travel. The Zoologist, for example, prefers living in the Forest Biome, and you'll be able to purchase the Leather Whip from them if they're happy enough. You'll need to ensure these NPCs have an empty house to move into, how many and which types of NPCs live beside them and what Biome they live in to achieve optimal happiness. You'll encounter various NPCs during your travels through the different Biomes in Terraria, and some of them will want to move to your town. ![]() Keeping the NPCs in Terraria happy lets you access a bunch of cool and rare items, but they can be a little fickle.
